SCOPE OF WORK: The renovation of 12,500 square feet of existing administrative office space into a new Inpatient Medical Ward on the 4th Floor, A-Section of the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center. The new area features 16 private patient rooms with private baths and all required support spaces and functions. The design included complete demolition and reconstruction to meet new functional requirements.
All of the existing flooring in the space contained asbestos, and required proper demolition and abatement. The existing mechanical (HVAC) infrastructure required complete replacement, including the air handling unit. The new AHU is required to serve both the new project space, and existing space that was not renovated as part of this project (approximately 20,000 square feet total). Electrical, plumbing infrastructure, and fire protection also required replacement with upgrades.
